Novinite.com The investigation into the murder of Dimitar Yankov, chair of the municipal council of the coastal town of Nessebar and a major hotel-keeper in the seaside resort of Sunny Beach, has been relaunched, police said.
Yankov was shot dead with seven bullets, while parking his car in front of a residential building in the coastal town of Burgas on May 9.
The public execution was feared to throw the local authority into chaos and trigger more kills, as Yankov was known to have had his eye set on the mayoral elections in the town.
He was also known to be close to the arrested mobster Dimitar Zheliazkov, who has been charged with heading an organized crime ring, drugs dealing and trafficking.
Yankov came to wield all the power in the popular coastal town of Nessebar after mayor Nikolay Trifonov surprisingly quit and landed a job at the consulate in Odessa.
Surprisingly, Trinofov was never summoned for an interrogation by the police.
The investigation was suspended in July over lack of clues.
